Your K-Cup Has Been Sitting in a Warehouse for Months

That grocery store pod? It was roasted long before it hit the shelf. Coffee starts losing flavor within weeks of roasting โ€” which is why your morning cup tastes flat, no matter how nice your machine is.

Angelino's does it differently. A third-generation roaster in Los Angeles, they roast, grind, and seal every pod in-house for peak freshness, then ship it to your door within days of roasting. The difference is the first thing you'll notice: real aroma, real flavor, no bitterness.

Mix and match from 50+ specialty coffees, teas, and flavored blends โ€” all Keurigยฎ-compatible โ€” and save more with every box you add, up to 34% off at 12+. Order once whenever you're running low, or subscribe for an extra 5% if that's easier. Entirely up to you.

BOONE COUNTY HISTORY

Boone County and the Civil War | Kentucky Tries to Stay Neutral

When the Civil War began in 1861, Kentucky tried to stand apart from it. On May 16, 1861, the state legislature adopted a resolution of strict neutrality, supporting Governor Beriah Magoffin's refusal to send troops to either side. The goal was to keep Kentucky from seceding and from becoming a battleground. Kentuckians were asked to take no part in the war except as friends to both sides.

For a border state, that was a difficult position to hold. Neutrality lasted until early September 1861, when Confederate forces occupied Columbus, Kentucky, and ended the state's hope of staying out. Kentucky never left the Union, but it did not stay out of the war either. Fighting reached the state, and its own people were divided about which side to take.

Boone County felt that division. The county sat directly across the Ohio River from Ohio, a Union state. Men from Boone County served in both armies. Tomorrow, we look at what that meant for the families who lived here.
